Updates to the comprehensive rules
This page details any changes and additions to the comprehensive rules we do. Expect it to be updated once per set release. You shouldn't necessitate this most of the time, but it's good to have.
Current reference point is the Magic: The Gathering Comprehensive Rules as of The Hobbit
A1. Terms and Notations Introduced for Annarita Environment
- A1.1. Some cards may refer to "everyone". This refers to each player and each creature, planeswalker, and battle.
- A1.2. Some spells and abilities have text that, instead of a number, uses strings of the form [X]d[Y]. These spells and abilities follow a particular process of being put on the stack.
- A1.2a. When putting a spell or ability with strings of the form [X]d[Y] on the stack, these strings are replaced by numbers: for each of the strings, the spell or ability's controller rolls X Y-sided dice and replaces the string with the sum of the results. This happens immediately after modes and values of variables are chosen (see rule 601.2b), before targets are chosen. (see rule 601.2c).
- A1.2b. The dice roll results are kept when copying a spell or ability with strings of the form [X]d[Y].
- A1.2c. Rolling to replace such strings counts as rolling dice (see rule 706).
- A1.2d. In any zone other than the stack, such strings are treated as 0.
A2. Counters
- A2.1. In addition to the keywords listed by rule 122.1b, a keyword counter may also be a mobilize counter.
- A2.1a. A mobilize counter works somewhat differently from other keyword counters. One or more mobilize counters on a permanent or on a card in a zone other than the battlefield causes that object to gain mobilize X, where X is the amount of mobilize counters on that object.
